MYHA, Inc. is an established architectural glass and metal glazing contractor. With an 18,000 sf production facility, we serve the building envelope (MasterSpec® Division 08) needs of general contractors and facility managers throughout the Chicago area. Our portfolio consists primarily of commercial projects (with some residential assignments) including aluminum storefronts, curtain walls, office partitions, architectural glass railings, custom mirrors, shower doors, and almost any other project that calls for glass work. Our company has grown by providing high-quality results combined with exceptional project delivery.

We are currently interviewing for experienced full-time journeyman-level (Lead Installer) and apprentice-level (Installer) glaziers. Recent experience is a plus! Qualified applicants must have a valid/clean Illinois driver’s license with good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and physical fitness.

Job Overview (Lead Installer / Installer)

Job Type: Full-time, Non-exempt (Overtime potential)

Job Location: South Chicago-based production shop

Job duties will generally include using shop tools and personal safety equipment for glass handling, metal framing for storefronts and other glass systems, mirror installation, frameless shower door installation, and glass replacement. Specifically, you may be required to perform one or more of the following tasks:

• Load and arrange glass or mirrors onto delivery trucks, using suction cups or shop equipment to lift glass panels.
• Cut, assemble, fit, or attach metal-framed glass enclosures for showers, bathtubs, display cases, skylights, solariums, and other structures.
• Install building fixtures. Measure mirrors and dimensions of areas to be covered to determine work procedures.
• Measure materials or objects for installation or assembly. Set glass doors into frames and bolt metal hinges, handles, locks, or other hardware to attach doors to frames and walls.
• Install doors or windows. Grind or polish glass, smoothing edges when necessary.
• Smooth surfaces with abrasive materials or tools. Fasten glass panes into wood sashes or frames with clips, points, or moldings, adding sealant.
• Apply material to fill gaps in surfaces. Fabricate or install metal sashes or moldings for glass installation, using aluminum framing.
• Install metal structural components. Fabricate parts or components. Pack spaces between moldings and glass with glazing compounds and trim excess material from installations using glazing tools.
• The full scope of work may include other tasks based on the needs of the business.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 Years Recent Glazing Experience. Glazing/Caulking Preferred.
• As a Lead Glazier, Ability to Perform Accurate and Timely Field Measurements.
• As a Lead Glazier, Ability to Effectively Manage a 2-Man/3-Man Glazing Crew.
• As a Lead Glazier, Ability to Quickly Identify Issues and Solve Problems.
• High School or Equivalent Education.
• Valid/Clean Illinois Driver’s License.
• Able to Pass a Drug Screen.
• Able to Lift Minimum of 60 Pounds.
• Frequent Bending, Stretching, and Lifting.
• Steel-Toe Boots and Construction Belt with Basic Tools.
• Ability to Use Customary Construction Tools.
• Ability to Follow Directions.
• Positive Can-Do Attitude.
