    Environmental Specialist

    This employee is responsible for ensuring client and employer compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations related to hazardous materials, stormwater, wastewater, sampling techniques etc. The employee needs to be familiar with EPA, TDEC, and OSHA regulations as well as other regulatory authorities.

    Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

    · Ability to conduct quick and accurate research on a variety of topics

    · Overseeing projects and sampling of materials

    · Supervising work of outside contractors involved in removing or testing hazardous materials.

    · Keeping informed of current and proposed regulations related to program areas assigned.

    · Performing related field work as required.

    · Sampling hazardous and/or industrial waste and bulk sampling of material suspected of containing asbestos and lead.

    · Maintaining operation and inspection logs.

    · Submitting clear and concise written reports based on field inspections, sampling results, and data.

    · Conduct on-site inspections

    · Assess potential impact certain processes may have on the environment

    · Prepare reports and legal documents

    · Ensure clients are complying with all local, regional, state, and federal environmental regulations

    · Creating, maintaining, and interpreting large amounts of data.

    · Data analysis

    · Collection of stormwater samples

    · Work within a team to complete report reviews and projects

    · Collecting and analyzing samples including soil, water, plant material, and more

    · Monitoring facilities that could impact the environment or the public

    · Develop and implement plans to improve different aspects of the environment

    · Provide support services and research to environmental engineers or others in a related field of work

    · Work on cleaning up polluted areas or develop a process to do so

    Required Qualifications

    · Working knowledge of regulations pertaining to environmental compliance including EPA, TDEC, and OSHA, among others.

    · Ability to understand and apply government regulations in the field

    · Understanding analytical laboratory procedures and methodologies

    · Ability to discuss with management and client the necessary regulations and potential outcomes of projects and work.

    · Experience in inspecting for hazardous materials and understanding processes which can produce hazardous work conditions

    · Ability to be flexible. Work changes quickly and tasks vary greatly

    · Good interpersonal relationship skills.

    · Good organizational skills

    · Knowledge of Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher

    · Knowledge of Adobe

    · Technical Writing Skills

    · Multi-tasking skills

    · Ability to clearly communicate

    Desired Qualifications:

    · Bachelor's degree of higher in Earth Science, Geology, Archaeology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related field.

    · 1 Year of related experience

    · Asbestos Inspector Certification

    · Lead Inspector Certification

    · TN Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Level I, II Certifications

    · Familiar with GIS, Python, and SAS

    · Reliable transportation

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $20.00 - $32.00 per hour
