Staff Geologist

  • ECC is seeking candidates for a Staff Geologist position for work on projects located at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant in Milan, TN. This position will also support projects in other ECC project locations. Ideally the Staff Geologist would live in or around the Milan, TN area and travel as needed to other project sites in Alabama or other location as required. ECC covers eligible travel expenses. This office and field position is primarily responsible for coordinating and implementing scientific and environmental services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations. Recent or upcoming graduates (Dec 2023) Geology majors strongly encouraged to apply.     • Under direct supervision, prepare environmental reports and plans
    • Analyze environmental/site/material data
    • Perform cross-disciplinary safety/quality, project controls, procurement and contracts, and estimating duties as assigned
    • Report to the site and conduct field sampling, construction, environmental, and other miscellaneous field support services, as assigned
    • Maintain budget and schedule for assigned tasks
    • Apply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes, building codes, national/ local standards, and company policies and SOPs
    • As directed, report to the field to perform and/or inspect or observe fieldwork, and review work of personnel, subcontractors and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances
    • Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites), in a timely and accurate manner
    • In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position

    Requirements

    • Apply basic knowledge of general scientific principles and analytical tools, as directed
    • Apply education of environmental processes and remediation technologies, as directed
    • Apply Federal environmental regulations, DoD guidelines, OSHA standards, USACE QC protocol, building codes/standards, and FAR, as directed
    • Communicate effectively by written and verbal means
    • Perform multiple concurrent tasks and meet timelines, as directed
    • Work well independently and as a team 
    • Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows
    • Travel: Must be able and willing to travel periodically, typically less than 25% depending on the needs of the company.
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior internship in field of study

    ECC targeted salary range for US locations average is $40,000 to $45,000 annually. Actual salary offered may be affected by education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
