Environmental Scientist III/Geologist

    This position as an Environmental Scientist III/Geologist is one of full-time employment. The employee will participate in environmental compliance and project management activities. Assignments will be mainly in our Providence Baton Rouge office, with some assignment work in the field.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

    • Bachelor of Masters degree in Earth Science, Geology, or related discipline.
    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
    • Working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, specifically pertaining to solid and hazardous waste, and groundwater.
    • Experience working/negotiating with environmental regulators.
    • High level of technical writing aptitude.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare and review permit applications for solid and hazardous waste management facilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Develop and implement groundwater monitoring programs, including the installation and maintenance of monitoring wells, data collection, and analysis.
    • Perform hydrogeological assessments to evaluate groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and remediation strategies.
    • Conduct environmental site assessments and investigations to evaluate potential impacts of solid and hazardous waste on soil, groundwater, and surface water resources.
    • Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to junior geologists and interns. 
    • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry partners to identify business opportunities and expand our client base.
    • Assist in business development efforts, including identifying potential clients, preparing proposals and cost estimates, and participating in client presentations.
    • Interpret and apply state and federal regulations governing solid and hazardous waste management, groundwater protection, and environmental remediation.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports, technical documents, and presentations summarizing findings, recommendations, and regulatory compliance status.
    • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, scientists, regulatory specialists, and project managers, to achieve project goals and deliverables.
    • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to environmental science and waste management.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

    • Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
    • Ability to walk long distances.
    • Ability to lift 30 lbs. 
    • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time.
