Geologist researches the formation, dissolution, and content of rock layers. Researches the effects of internal pressures, heat, water, pollution, and erosion. Being a Geologist studies variations in rock formations and densities to identify new mineral deposits. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. Additionally, Geologist tests mineral quality and purity to determine feasibility of mining. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.     System One is currently seeking a Geologist o a 4 year contract located in Alpine, AL. 

    Geologist Responsibilities: 
    • Extensive travel throughout Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

    Geologist Requirements: 
    • 4-Year degree in related field or 3 - 10 years of related experience
    • Experience in the install groundwater and surface water instrumentation systems in and around dams, levees and CCR sites for the collection of real time data collection/performance monitoring Instrumentation and maintenance will include – inclinometers, water quality equipment (pH, ORP, DO, turbidity, conductivity), portable solar battery charging stations and cellular and satellite communication systems       
    • Experience in executing field investigations utilizing various drilling methods and resources
    • Experience with soil and rock logging, monitoring well construction, groundwater monitoring, and field data reporting
    • Knowledge of environmental sampling and testing methods
    • General knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
    • Experience with projecting and managing project budgets
    • Working knowledge of gINT Boring Log Program 
    • Flexible computer skills.  Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to work with limited supervision 
    • Effective oral and written communication skills 
    • Safety first mindset
    • Exhibit customer focus and conflict resolutions skills



    Duration: 4 years 
    Location: Alpine, AL 
    Pay Rate: $40-45/hr 

    Work week is 4/10s (Mon-Thur) with some 10 day shifts 
    Extensive travel through Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi
    Vehicle provided 
    Reimbursement for meals and lodging
