Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. University Physicians' Association is seeking qualified applicants for full-time Medical Assistant (MA) position at UNIVERSITY GENETICS.
Candidates must be detail-oriented and able to work under deadlines in a very fast-paced office. Applicants must be familiar with giving instructions, writing orders, and making the patients their top priority. This position will work closely with physicians to provide a seamless patient experience.
Job duties include but are not limited to, assisting physicians with patient care, scheduling, return patient messages, file prior authorizations, obtaining pre-certs for MRIs and CTs, communicating test results, phlebotomy, and various other tasks. This position also requires the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with physicians, patients and their families while conveying a positive image of the practice.
