Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. Our Core Values
Clinicians work predominately with children and adolescents experiencing a wide variety of issues, including ADHD, conduct disorders, depression, anxiety and traumas. Referrals are based on your scope of practice and preferred schedule. Clinicians are allowed a great deal of independence in working with clients and have flexibility in setting up their own in-office or hybrid scheduled times.
Work Environment: San Antonio Counseling and Behavioral Center has both full-time and part time counselors in an established group practice with office located at Alamo Ranch.
This is a either a Full Time or Part time Contract Position
Requirements: Utilize appropriate clinical methods and techniques, adhering to established ethical standards. The ability to utilize a personal computer in order to use the web-based software provided by the center for progress notes, treatment plans and scheduling. Ability to generate reports and progress notes in a timely manner.
LPC, LCSW, LMFT and PSYCHOLOGIST: Candidates should have completed all necessary coursework leading to a master’s degree, at minimum. They should have also successfully passed the Texas State Licensing Exam. (No Associates)
