Genetics Counselor jobs in Roanoke, VA
Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. Genetics Counselor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Substance Use Counselor Job Responsibilities- Deliver Substance Use Disorder treatment under clinical supervision.
- Coordinate patient care with onsite medical team.
- Use ASAM criteria and acquired information to provide accurate least restrictive care to individuals, groups, and families.
- Administer, score, and perform initial screening tests and evaluations.
- Assure documentation is completed with contract regulatory agency requirements and best practices.
- Provide interventions, treatments and utilize evidence-based therapy.
- Complete documentation within specified timeframe using Electronic Medical Records.
- Attend required meetings including individual and group supervision, treatment team meeting, and quarterly in-service.
Substance Use Counselor Job Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Dependent licensure (CSAC-S, CSAC, Resident in Counseling or LBSW) required
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy preferred
- Independent licensure (LPC, LCSW) preferred
