Genetics Counselor jobs in Concord, NC

Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice.     • Assist the breeder operations managers by providing superior veterinary and diagnostics laboratory services.
    • Work with affiliated companies to develop products and procedures to enhance profitability.
    • Provide superior internal and external customer support. Serve as on-site point of  contact for internal and external customers, communicating proactively and demonstrating commitment to high quality service.
    • Follow and enforce all of the company’s rules and regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare and safety.
    • Prepare data summaries, reports or analyses that include charts and graphs to document research findings and results.
    • Work productively in a team environment and be willing to help in any area deemed necessary for positive results.
    • Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    • Work with a variety of technical tools and equipment.
    • Have the ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull and lift 50lbs or more.
    • Passion for working with live animals.
    • Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
    • Perform the duties of the job while constantly moving and using hands, occasionally lifting heavy objects while being exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals and fumes.
    Work an extended work day, if needed.
    1. Maintain strong preventative health and biosecurity programs.
    2. Research and development.
    3. Design, participate and oversee various applied research trials in production and in controlled research settings.
    4. Ability to communicate complex issues verbally and in writing.
    5. Training employees on technical practices and protocols.
    6. Prepare biological samples for testing or analysis.
    7. Self-directed effective time management.
    8. Maintain a safe working environment.
    9. Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

    Requirements:
    • DVM degree from an AVMA accredited college and be eligible for licensure in multiple states.
    • Ability to successfully handle multiple demands simultaneously is required.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills is required.
    • A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record required.
    • Successful completion of criminal background check is required.
    • Ability to travel 25% of the time required.
    • Prior experience in a poultry industry is preferred.
    • Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills a plus.
