Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. GENERAL DUTIES SUMMARY:
The School Counselor implements a comprehensive school counseling program to ensure
equitable access to a rigorous education for all students. As a professional educator with a
mental health perspective, the counselor understands and responds to the needs of a diverse
student population. The school counselor identifies the knowledge and skills all students will
acquire as a result of the K-12 school counseling program, based on data-driven decision
making. The school counselor provides proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the
delivery of programs and services to support the students’ social emotional development,
academic achievement and career preparation.
