General Maintenance/ "Handyman"

Your maintenance responsibilities involve solving basic electrical and plumbing issues, as well as ensuring interior and exterior structural components are safe and in good condition, such as siding and sidewalks. You must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., and you should be proficient with hand and power tools. Previous experience working as an electrician or in carpentry is a plus, especially if you have a contractor or journeyman license.

The day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to:

• Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage.
• Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
• Maintaining the building HVAC equipment to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.
• Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems.
• Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
• Painting the building when old paint has become faded or damaged.
• Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs, or other drainage problems.
• Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building.
• Groundskeeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance.
• Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.

Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:

• Compliance with all GMP, Food Safety, and General Safety rules and regulations.
• Compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate food safety regulatory standards as well as company quality standards provided by facility, regional, and corporate quality authorities.
• Knowledge of Setton Pistachio’s Food Safety Management System and its application in a processing environment.

Organization Relationships:

• Reports to Matt Changala, Cold Storage Manager.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs. (when required, 100lbs.)
• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools
• Reliable transportation
• Flexible schedule
• Mechanical aptitude
• Contractor or journeyman license is a plus.
• Forklift Certification required.

Physical Demands:

• You’re able to maneuver around the office and plant, can lift to 50 pounds, 100 pounds when required and can perform repetitive moments like squatting, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• You’re able to climb ladders.

Work Environment:

• Be able to sit/stand and be outside in the elements.
• Have the physical ability and endurance to climb ladders and stairways, walk on platforms, catwalks, roots, etc.
• This job site will be at our Ducor Cold Storage Facility in Ducor Ca

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 - $22.50 per hour

• Construction: 1 year (Preferred)
• Handyman: 1 year (Required)
