Position Overview
Student will develop an understanding of the Kansas automobile crash record database. Duties will include data correction, data quality analysis, mapping and report development. Work 15 or more hours per week during the academic year, including breaks, and 20-40 hours per week during summer. All hours are between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Mon-Fri, with a minimum of 3-4 hour blocks of time.
Job Description
(40%) Interpret geographic information and other supporting data to determine locations of car crashes.
(25%) Review results of automated address geocoding.
(20%) Perform database quality control procedures.
(10%) Manual geospatial data editing.
(5%) Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- KU student meeting enrollment requirements.

Demonstrated attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and ability to follow precise verbal and written instructions.

Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Experience with Microsoft Office and/or G-Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs).
**During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).**
Preferred Qualifications
- Major in geography or related field.

Knowledge in GIS: ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online.

Experience with graphics design software.

Experience with database systems and Structured Query Language (SQL).
