  • Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented GIS Technician to join our team. As a GIS Technician, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geographic data to support various projects.     Responsibilities:

    1. Data Collection and Management: Collect, compile, and organize geographic data from various sources such as satellite imagery, GNSS and traditional surveys, and public records. Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date GIS databases by inputting and verifying data integrity. Perform data cleaning, editing, and quality assurance procedures to ensure data accuracy.
    2. Mapping and Visualization: Assist in the production of maps, charts, and other visual representations using GIS software. Interpret and analyze spatial data to create thematic maps and reports for various projects and stakeholders. Incorporate GIS data into presentations, reports, and other materials to effectively communicate findings.
    3. Spatial Analysis: Conduct spatial analysis to identify patterns, trends, and relationships within geographic data. Perform geoprocessing tasks such as buffering, overlay analysis, and network analysis. Assist in the development and implementation of spatial models to support decision-making processes.
    4. GIS Software and Technology: Utilize GIS software and related tools to perform data manipulation, geocoding, and spatial analysis. Stay updated on the latest GIS technologies, trends, and best practices to enhance workflow efficiency. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for GIS software and hardware-related issues.
    5. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and provide GIS support. Communicate findings, methodologies, and results effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Assist in training and providing guidance to users on GIS software, data collection techniques, and data management best practices.


    Requirements:


    1. Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    2. Strong proficiency in GIS software and related tools. Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online is preferred.
    3. Solid understanding of spatial data concepts, coordinate systems, and projections. Familiarity with data formats such as shapefiles, geodatabases, CAD, and raster datasets.
    4. Understanding of data collection techniques such as GNSS, remote sensing, and other surveying methods.
    5. Knowledge of spatial analysis techniques and experience with geoprocessing tools.
    6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    8. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    9. Prior experience in a GIS or related role is preferred.
