Oversees the production of reports, maps, applications, and visualizations for internal or external stakeholders. Additionally, GIS Supervisor typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The GIS Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a GIS Supervisor typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Purpose of the Role/Role Overview:
    To assist production teams, within the engineering organization to develop software, scripts/plug-ins, etc that will increase efficiencies across the company.
     
    General Duties / Key Responsibilities:
    • Design and develop software applications, scripts/plug-ins, etc based on business requirements, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability. 
    • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to understand and translate business needs into technical specifications.
    • Troubleshoot and debug software issues, identifying root causes and implementing timely fixes.
    • Integrate software components and third-party APIs to enhance application functionality.
    • Develop and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
    • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, and actively participate in continuous learning and professional development.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the development lifecycle.
    • Contribute to the improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance team productivity.
    • Any/all duties related to software development that may be required for project(s)
    Required Job Qualifications:
    • A minimum of 3 years in Software Engineering/Development
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Products such as Teams, Outlook, and Planner or with other telework products provided by Zoom, Google, and Skype.
    Required Training/Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
      • 3 years of verifiable experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
    • Certificate/License and working knowledge in Python, JavaScript
    • QGIS/ArcMap/ArcPro/ArcGIS/AGOL/etc. (any relevant GIS based software)
    Desired Technical Experience:
    • Fiber optic Network Design experience
    • Working knowledge of Java, C
    • Other utility Network Design experience
    Required Soft Skills
    • Self-Starter
    • Motivated
    • Advanced Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
    • Ability to work independently and with moderate supervision or as a part of a team.
    • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.

    • 0-5%
