JOB DESCRIPTION
This person will be working as a GIS Specialist at a Top Fortune 500 Property Insurance company on the Engineering and Research team in the Natural Hazards group. This person will be supporting different scientists working on different projects, such as storm search modeling, wild fires, and other natural hazards. Day to day you will be running floor models by preparing data for these models; such as digital elevation models, typography of land, and other layers of data. This data will be processed by automating it, writing scripts, etc. You will also be extracting social media data (keywords about storms and the exact location). This position will be hybrid in Norwood, MA, working on a great team of GIS specialists and scientists. However, if they are an all star candidate, they can sit fully remote.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
2-3 years of GIS experience (ArcGIS or QGIS)
Statistical Data Analysis Experiece
Python Programming Preferred (but R, C, C , will also be taken)
Grid Mapping experience with Vector AND Raster
Bachelor's degree required (computer science, engineering preferred but open to all)
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree
Natural Hazard Applications
Machine learning experience
