Furnace Operator/Tender sets-up, operates, maintains, and controls furnaces to melt metal to specified temperatures. Adjusts controls to regulate the furnace and to maintain specified temperature. Being a Furnace Operator/Tender requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Furnace Operator/Tender relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Summary
Operates the furnaces in a safe, efficient manner to produce liquid smoke to meet customer commitments, company objectives and quality standards.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Assist the furnace operator with calciner operations.
Perform necessary tests to adjust furnaces for optimum production & quality.
Record operational data of furnaces.
Rod out furnace per schedule
Grease, oil, & lube furnaces, as required.
Perform scheduled sanitation duties.
Burnout furnaces as required.
Maintain neat, clean, and organized furnace and control rooms by cleaning daily.
Keeps furnace room clean and safe.
Complies with all corporate safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
Complies with all HACCP Food Safety procedures, GMP’S, and guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Assist the furnace operator with calciner operations.
Loads char.
Back up for dryer operator when necessary
