    At The Front Climbing Club, our Assistant Gym Manager and Gym Manager are the dynamic duo overseeing all aspects of gym operations and front desk staff. These roles ensure members receive top-notch customer service and membership experience is nothing short of amazing. This includes managing staff productivity and positivity, handling disciplinary matters with care, or coordinating trainings to keep our team at the top of their game.

    The Assistant Gym Manager title is reserved for a Gym Manager in training. Within six months, they're expected to master the ins and outs of managing tasks overhead and meet our high-performance standards.


    Primary and Essential Functions

    • Serve as an example of excellent customer service, work ethic and productivity, operational adherence, and positive work culture;
    • Oversee Front Desk staff, document individual staff and team performance, provide feedback to General Managers on employee performance;
    • Perform all standard front desk duties including managing daily desk operations, customer service and daily cleaning duties;
    • Handle escalated complaints and incidents, particularly those that require management discretion;
    • Enforce facility rules and policies, address any unsafe behavior observed, and perform floor monitor duties when needed;
    • Perform and submit daily reports to management and applicable stakeholders;
    • Assist with the recruitment process including participating in interviews and hiring decisions;
    • Perform new hire orientations and ongoing training to employees;
    • Schedule Front Desk staff in accordance with criteria outlined in staffing plan;
    • Direct the completion of sales transactions including supporting Front Desk staff working in the retail shop, exchanging merchandise, accepting returns, & reviewing POS sales;
    • Ensure front desk walkthroughs are occurring on a regular basis and that task lists are complete;
    • Monitor and identify maintenance, safety, and cleaning issues and ensures resolution;
    • Assist in Bi-annual review process for Front Desk staff;
    • Meet regularly with the General Managers to provide updates and results on various deliverables and presents possible gym improvement and opportunities;
    • Offer creative insight and critical feedback in a professional way as to how to improve any aspect of operation in our team and facility;
    • Take part in companywide planning process, identifying and report on bi-weekly outcomes;
    • Additional duties as assigned.


    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree preferred; work experience can substitute for the degree;
    • Minimum of two years customer service or hospitality experience;
    • People management experience preferred;
    • Knowledge of Rock Gym Pro software preferred;
    • Ability to work nights and weekends;
    • Strong planning, time management and organizational skills;
    • A proven track record of successfully leading and motivating diverse teams;
    • A superior level of member service and conflict resolution skills;
    • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment;
    • Ability and desire to learn indoor climbing safety procedures;
    • Ability and desire to learn indoor climbing safety procedures and develop climbing instructional expertise through inhouse training requirements;
    • First Aid/CPR certification required upon hire;
    • Utah Alcohol certification required upon hire;
    • Proficient in MS Office including Excel & Outlook;
    • Be able to collaborate and innovate as a means to create exceptional value for our members, our company, and ourselves.


    Job Hazards

    This position is exposed to airborne chalk, dust and cleaning supplies. Other hazards include falling while providing instruction or demonstration and trips and falls caused by obstacles on the ground such as ropes and climbing gear and slippery surfaces after they have been cleaned.
