Fraud Prevention Manager manages a team of analysts responsible for the detection, prevention, and mitigation of fraudulent transactions.     TITLE: Prevention Coordinator
    DEPARTMENT: Middletown Prevention Coalition
    REPORTS TO: MPC Director
    CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time / Non-classified

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the mental health promotion efforts at the high school and middle school. The Prevention Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of a prevention plan for the secondary schools with the goal being to reduce underage drinking and substance use while promoting youth mental health. This position requires the ability to work well with youth, develop and implement prevention/mental health programming for students and parents designed to create a safe, healthy and drug-free Middletown. Strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and work well as a team member essential. Knowledge of the substance use prevention field and mental health promotion fields preferred. The Prevention Coordinator works under the direction of and reports to the MPC Director.

    • Assists in the development and implementation of the prevention/intervention plan for MHS & Gaudet Middle School.
    • Acts as the advisor for the MHS and Gaudet Islanders Committed Youth Committees to include student recruitment, advertising/marketing and the supervision of these initiatives.
    • Responsible for the necessary data collection as defined by the Director.
    • Assists MHS and Gaudet principals in the administration of the Student Health and Wellness Survey, focus groups and key informant interviews.
    • Works closely with the Middletown Student Assistance Counselor as it pertains to prevention, intervention and health promotion services.
    • Assists in the planning, development, coordination associated with the coalition’s outreach and policy efforts such as the Substance Use & Student Wellness Policy presentations, school and/or community presentations, Mental Health Month activities, Middletown Family Day, Middletown Wellness Month, etc.
    • Attends all CADCA, out-of-state and in-state trainings/meetings, MPC meetings and all other related meetings as deemed necessary by the MPC Director.
    • Responsible for a monthly report to the MPC Director and MPC membership.
    • Collaborates effectively with all sectors of the community to accomplish a successful work plan, meet objectives and develop relationships with all “key community stakeholders”.
    • Maintains all programmatic data records.
    • Performs other related duties/responsibilities as assigned by the MPC Director.

    IIMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred in human services, substance use prevention, education or related field. Three years of experience in human services or substance use prevention is preferred. Or any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above will be considered.
    • Knowledge of substance use prevention and mental health promotion strategies is preferred.
    • Ability to work well with high school and middle school aged youth.
    • Must be able to lead and work effectively with a collaborative team.
    • Must be able to multi-task.
    • Strong oral communication and written skills is required.
    • Strong administrative and organizational skills is required.
    • Must possess advanced computer skills in order to perform Internet research, database management, reporting and correspondence. Experience in word processing and data base applications is required.
    • Must participate in annual continuing education as directed by the MPC Director in order to attain CPS (Certified Prevention Specialist) certification.
    • Must be self-motivated and able to grasp new concepts quickly.
    • Must have flexibility with work hours to accommodate weekend and/or evening work requirements.
    • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
