    ABOUT THE ROLE:
     

    The Tax Investigation Specialist serves the purpose of fostering strong relationships with clients and the IRS to enable TaxRise to provide comprehensive representation to taxpayers facing various tax issues. As a Tax Investigation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Tax Resolution Department by conducting and reviewing state tax investigations, assessing clients' eligibility for state tax resolution, and collaborating with other departments to gather required documents and information. Your efforts will contribute to the seamless submission of resolution packages to state agencies on behalf of clients.


    WHAT YOU’LL DO:


    • Utilize both Taxpayer Advocate Service (THS) and telephonic methods to conduct comprehensive tax investigations for state agencies and the IRS. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case statuses through diligent documentation and regular updates.
    • Electronically submit Power of Attorney (POA) forms to the IRS and state agencies to ensure proper authorization for representing clients. Verify and track authorization status to facilitate seamless representation throughout the resolution process.
    • Upload transcripts and relevant documents to clients' case files, ensuring meticulous organization and accuracy. Maintain detailed and accurate records in the CRM system to track case progress, communication history, and documentation status.
    • Perform regular audits of case files to ensure adherence to internal processes and regulatory requirements. Maintain compliance with established protocols and procedures to uphold the integrity of case resolution activities.
    • Advocate for taxpayers by negotiating payment arrangements and hardship requests with state agencies, demonstrating empathy and professionalism. Analyze and prepare financial documents for submission to state agencies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Collaborate with various departments to obtain missing information, tax returns, or documents necessary for case resolution. Keep team members informed of progress and collaborate effectively to facilitate seamless resolution processes.


    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:


    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

    • Active PTIN and CAF number with IRS are required. 
    • CTEC Certification preferred. 
    • 2 years of experience with a tax related CRM.
    • Possess excellent computer (G Suite, Microsoft Office) skills.
    • Time management – multi-tasker, able to manage large caseloads, prioritize cases and follow up with Tax Professionals, Sales, and Clients in a timely manner.
    • Ability to remain focused and productive within a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong work ethic.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing processes.
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    PAY RANGE: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour


    The above-range represents TaxRise’s current good-faith pay scale for this role. TaxRise reserves the right to modify or update this range at any time.
