Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Foundation Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Description

    The Finance Director's main duty is to prepare budgets, reports and track expenditures of non-profit programs

    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Develops program budgets in coordination with Executive Director and Director of Programs
    • Generates timely budget reports, fiscal reports and grant tracking for programs
    • Oversees adherence to accounting policies & procedures.
    • Maintains communication with Executive Director, Director of Programs and Grant's key contacts.
    • Responsible for financial procedures and records as directed by the Executive Director
    • This responsibility may include:
      • Maintenance of checking accounts and invoices
      • Responsibility for subsidiary ledgers: cash disbursements, cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bi-weekly payroll summary, accounts receivables summary and QuickBooks entries as needed
      • Prepares and submits reports and functions
      • Monthly/Bi-Monthly Grant draws as required with all appropriate back-up documentation
      • Monthly Board of Director financial reporting package
      • Monthly Accounts Receivables & Aging Reports (or upon request)
      • Various Grantor's required reports (Federal, State, Local) as required
      • Weekly Schedule of Deposits
      • Transfer Requests & supporting bank balances
      • Bi-Weekly Payroll Journal Entry (Excel and MIP Abila)
      • Monthly Salary and Vacation Accruals
      • Various Monthly Closing reports (see close checklist)
    • Prepares and Submits Grant Tracking Reports as they occur
    • Compiles statistical informational data for use in reports
    • Supervises Fiscal Coordinator, Grants Coordinator and Purchasing Coordinator

    • Must maintain a positive, open an objective attitude towards others
    • Must be able to accurately type
    • Must have a good working knowledge of English, grammar, punctuation, spelling style, etc
    • Must have the ability to operate standard office machines such as computers, tablets, printers, copiers, etc
    • Must have moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) programs and other software programs as needed
    • Must have the ability to answer telephones and greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner
    • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing schedule and/or work tasks
    • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and work independently with limited direction from supervisors
    • Must have the ability to interact with tact and discretion with supervisors, officials, employees, and clients
    • Must be organized, display strong time management abilities and have attention to detail to effectively meet organizational needs

    Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance or Related Field
    • Knowledge of efficient office procedures and record keeping practices
    • Certified Public Accountant preferred
    • Maintain a positive, open and objective attitude towards others including volunteers and interns
    • Willing to engage, support, include and work with volunteers and/or interns on an on-going or as needed basis
    • Ability to speak in a clear and understandable manner and write legibly using the English language is a requirement
    • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of incoming paperwork is a requirement
    • Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing and maintain a drug-free workplace
    • Must have obtained the COVID-19 vaccine and be fully vaccinated prior to starting employment with Sunrise Children's Foundation
