Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Foundation Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To strategically plan, implement, direct and maintain the fiscally related actives of a group of departments within the School of Medicine (SOM) and the Health Services Foundation (HSF). To serve as a resource and source of expertise to the represented departments and to ensure policies, procedures and programs are consistently administered, aligned with organizational goals and are in compliance with professional standards and institutional requirements. To understand and advise departments on budgeting, reporting and how their departmental financial performance impacts UAB Medicine as a whole, with particular attention to the UAB Medicine Obligate Group. To lead a team of highly capable finance professionals in providing services to a defined group of departments, consistently of the highest quality, in a manner that is highly collaborative with all stakeholders, including but not limited to the departments, UAB Medicine and UAB Central administration. To be innovative in creating effective and efficient processes and procedures in conjunction with UAB Medicine Leadership. To serve as an example of best practices to all departments.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and eight (8) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
