Fogarty Forestry is looking to hire a Entry-level Field Forester. Primary responsibilities will include timber cruising, boundary line location and marking, timber marking, mapping, road location and layout, checking product utilization, contract administration, client sales and service, and other tasks as assigned by the senior forester.
Education
Technical forestry school or college of forestry graduate or 3 to 5 years of proven forestry field experience. Recent graduates are urged to apply.
Qualifications
Personal/Job Skills: The individual must be safety oriented, a self-starter, motivated, and able to work with little direct supervision. Must be able to function in a team environment. Basic computer literacy is required and familiarity with Excel, Word, Power Point and email. A safe driving record/able to pass background check/drug test is required.
The ideal candidate will have experience with ESRI ArcGIS and digital cruising software. Candidates for the Field Forester position should have or have the ability to obtain a Vermont and/or New Hampshire forestry license within two (2) years. Candidates for the Field Forester position should have or have the ability to obtain a Vermont Applicators license within six (6) months.
Physical Requirements
The individual must be physically fit as this work is primarily outdoors with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, mud, snow, rain, power equipment, insects, snakes, and wind in a variety of terrains from gently sloping to steep and rocky.
Travel Requirements
Daily travel required (A four-wheel drive vehicle will be provided) as well as occasional overnight travel. Generally no more than 4 or 5 weeks per year will be spent away at off-site locations.
Location
Home location will be in the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire. Our office is physically located in Rumney, New Hampshire.
