May require 2-4 years of related work experience. Additionally, Forest and Conservation Worker relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Visitor Use Monitoring Placement
The National Visitor Use Monitoring program has two concurrent goals. First, to produce estimates of the volume of recreation visitation to National Forests and Grasslands. Second, to produce descriptive information about that visitation, including activity participation, demographics, visit duration, measures of satisfaction, and trip spending connected to the visit. Interns will travel to various parts of the forest to conduct these surveys - often with another intern but occasionally alone. Safe driving and strong organizational skills are essential. On the workdays that no surveys are scheduled, the interns will do basic trail and campground maintenance.
This position will primarily work out of Thorne Bay.Program Dates:
Start Date - April 15, 2024
End Date - September 29, 2024
Compensation:- $1,500 - one-time RT travel allowance
- $425- weekly living allowance
- AmeriCorps eligibility (Education award of $3,447.50)
