    Job Summary: 

    The Senior Non-Ferrous RSI Trader will work in a fast-paced, environment, working closely with the VP of RSI; handling procurement, sales and processing functions. This role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential trading partners, deep market understanding, and effective cost management to optimize profitability. You must be well-versed in market pricing dynamics and skilled in hedging, risk and credit management. This position demands a personable individual capable of developing and nurturing relationships, analytical thinking, and expert negotiation skills. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies to maximize profitability and ensure the smooth functioning of the trading department.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities of the Role:

     

                         The buying, selling, and processing of aluminum scrap, by-products, and finished goods.

    • Ongoing business development with active and prospective customers.
    • Develop a consultative relationship with customers to make recommendations and advise on solutions
    • Regular visits to RSI/Scrap consumers, scrap processors, and rotary processors
    • Proficient understanding of the analytical qualities, recoveries, and pricing to make recommendations
    • Works closely with the scrap business unit, quoting spot offers and bids and managing scrap for conversion programs
    • Participate in MEC trading relationships through cross-functional MEC team opportunities
    • You work with a team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment
    • Supplier Visits and Quality Assurance: Visit current and prospective suppliers at their facilities, conducting material inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
    • Solve commercial disputes in an amicable and timely manner.
    • Ability to assume a leadership role if needed

    Qualifications

    Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    • Education
      • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required; master’s degree is preferred

     

    • Experience and Qualifications

    Minimum of 10 years of successful experience in the aluminum remelt RSI industry

    • Strong knowledge of the scrap aluminum market, including pricing trends, supply chain dynamics, and industry regulations.
    • Negotiating skills that combine the characteristics of a professional relationship and a well-developed strategy
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to make informed trading decisions.
    • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and buyers.
    • Proficiency in using trading software and tools to monitor market data and analyze trading performance.
    • Strong financial acumen and understanding of risk management principles.
    • Proven experience in procurement, trading, or a related field within the non-ferrous metals industry.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Commitment to ethical business practices and compliance with industry regulations.

    • Extensive professional network of suppliers and customers within the non-ferrous metals industry and proficient understanding of the analytical qualities, recoveries, and pricing
    • Know the RSI consumers and their analytical needs.              
    • Team player with the ability to build relationships and effectively interact both internally and externally with people at all levels of the organization
    • Collaborate with other MX departments, such as logistics and finance, to streamline operations and ensure efficient delivery and payment processes.
    • Ability to thrive as a motivated self-starter in a fast-paced, growing environment
    • Attentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office - including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
    • Business Development: Be proactive and driven in pursuing opportunities, both domestically and internationally, and be prepared to travel a minimum of 25% of the time.
    • Industry Engagement: Attend industry events to stay updated on current market trends and to maintain and cultivate industry relationships.
