First Shift: Monday thru Thursday from 7:00 AM – 6:00PM with mandatory make-up rain days on Friday and the possibility of mandatory overtime if the project requires it.
Client has immediate openings for Gas Meter Exchange Technicians. The position is productivity-based work performing gas meter installations in the field to support the Duke Energy Aged Gas Meter Project.
Client provides all OQ training, certifications, uniforms, and equipment to perform the primary job functions.
Projected length of project: 2 years
Primary Functions:
- Physical ability to work in an outdoor environment, including, but not limited to: Walking, climbing, and stooping for up to 10 hours per day in all types of weather conditions.
- Check existing meter, install replacement meter, and perform final meter test.
- Replace gas regulator when necessary.
- Collect data accurately and detail the installations from company-provided handheld device.
- Maintain exceptional standards of safety and quality of work.
- Ability to identify hazardous and abnormal operating conditions as it relates to gas meter sets.
- Check and identify gas leaks on a meter set.
- Ability to safely turn on and off customer gas supplies.
- Proficient in gas appliance safeties and operations.
- Shut down and relighting of gas appliances.
- Use appropriate hand tools to remove and install new gas meters.
- Meet daily installation goals, as established by the Project Manager.
- Communicate and interact with utility customers in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must pass the required OQ training, field evaluation, and obtain OQ certification.
- Strong technical, written, and oral communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Must be able to use a variety of hand tools requiring upper body forces up to 30 lbs.
- Adhere to all Federal, State and Local driving requirements, company policies and procedures as well as additional legal regulatory requirements (i.e., OSHA).
Preferred
- Previous experience in Natural Gas Field Service Operations.
- Previous experience installing or repairing gas meters.
- Experience with technology, computers, and various software programs.
