United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Process Manager- Maintenance Planning at it's Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations. The position will provide ongoing technical support for the Steel Operations' Maintenance Services & Utilities and Air Separation Unit for the generation, documentation, and communication of efficient maintenance work procedures. This person will assist plant Planning and Scheduling coordinators with field audit techniques and data gathering at the plant level and perform technical writing efforts of Standard Maintenance Procedures and preventive maintenance documents for critical plant equipment.
Responsibilities:
Work with department maintenance management and craftsmen to generate detailed maintenance work plans and procedures to ensure efficient execution of change outs of equipment.
Work with department reliability specialists to ensure that plans and procedures include specifications which address the manufacturer's original engineering design specifications, as well as known failure mode mitigation measures needed for the equipment's operating context.
Work with the department process engineers, and/or operations management, to ensure that plans and procedures include commissioning specifications and checks, so that necessary process variables are achieved after maintenance work is performed.
Perform audits during the execution of work plans and revise plan documents as necessary based on field observations and informal interviews with crafts and supervision.
Maintain an up-to-date library of work plans within Database or Document Management System.
Work plans/ Standard Work Procedures (SMPs) will be written consistently with USS standard formatting.
SMPs will include: Description of work to be performed, segregated into task-specific steps; determination if a shut-down of the component is necessary, craft skills required and estimated duration of each task sequence, managed and consumable parts and supplies required, special instructions: ie, torque specs, bearing clearances, tolerances, cure time, weld procedures, etc; crane requirements and rigging locations if necessary with weights, equipment staging, prep, and cleaning requirements; special PPE requirements, permits required, fall protection/tie-off locations, scaffold requirements; specific assembly drawings and P&ID as required.
Work with department Planning and Scheduling Coordinator on a weekly basis to assist with the generation of weekly maintenance activities and outage repair schedules.
Develop and communicate necessary project plans in Gantt chart format so all stakeholders are aware of maintenance activities and durations.
Participate as required in line-up or maintenance review meetings with maintenance employees, contractors and supervisors.
Coordinate MOC (Management of Change) as needed with department or plant personnel (Maintenance, Reliability, Safety, Materials Management, Environmental, Operations) when document revisions are required.
Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering Technology, 4-year Technical Degree or 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Technical writing experience or expertise.
Job Planning experience.
Good organizational & analytical skills.
