Summary
This position will work alongside the Director of Private Equity Accounting, Director of Asset Management, and the Acquisitions Manager and team to provide financial analysis services to the private equity and due diligence arms of the BAM Companies. The ideal candidate will have specialized financial underwriting expertise in real estate private equity, particularly multifamily real estate investing. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for regular underwriting activities for BAM Capital as well as advanced Excel modeling to adapt existing models to the terms of each deal and prospective investment vehicle.
Essential Job Functions
Underwrite potential real estate acquisitions and collaborate with Acquisitions team to maintain/adjust inputs to acquisition underwriting model(s) to inform investment decision-making
Be involved in the preparation and presentation of acquisition opportunities to the Investment Committee (i.e. making recommendations and explaining underwriting assumptions)
Collaborate with the Investor Relations team on the preparation of investment reporting metrics (IRR, cash-on-cash, unrealized gains, etc.)
Assist with the preparation of Fair Market Value calculations in accordance with GAAP
Demonstrate knowledge of private equity fund structures, complex real estate or private equity transactions and understanding of fund governing documents
Lead and work on ad hoc client projects and internal initiatives

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
2 years of underwriting experience in either Real Estate Private Equity, Private Equity Funds, or other financial institutions where the candidate has gained financial products knowledge
General knowledge of real estate transactions and syndication models
Experience in preparing underwriting models to match complicated waterfall and organizational structures
Comfortable in understanding and navigating through partnership agreements and fund legal documents
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Superior problem solving, analytical, judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to think independently, prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
Extensive Microsoft suite skills
An ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities
Strong organizational skills with the ability to own and see projects to completion
Self motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently as well as be able to effectively work on a team
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience working for an institutional multifamily or other private equity real estate firm with Midwest or National reach.
