Nexus-Indian Oaks is hiring for a Food Service Supervisor at our Manteno, IL location!
Nexus- Indian Oaks Family Healing is part of Nexus Family Healing, a national nonprofit network of mental health agencies with over 45 years of restoring hope for thousands of children and families through outpatient/community mental health services, foster care and adoption, and residential treatment.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the Academy food service to ensure nutritional value, efficiency, safety, and compliance with all regulatory entities.
- Coordinate daily meal menus that offer variety and are in compliance with all nutritional and regulatory standards and requirements; demonstrate ability to plan and organize multiple priorities and adjust work and direction to meet the changing needs of the business by remaining adaptable.
- Plan and coordinate menus or food and beverage items for special events, meetings, or other gatherings sponsored by the academy.
- Develop and maintain staff schedules in a timely and proactive manner to ensure adequate coverage for all food service department responsibilities.
- Develop vendor/supplier relationships and negotiate service/pricing agreements to ensure the highest quality of service and products within budgetary guidelines.
- Develop and monitor systems and procedures to purchase/reorder, store and utilize inventory efficiently and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and current purchasing, usage, and inventory records for both internal needs and external regulatory reporting requirements.
- Conduct and/or supervise the initial and ongoing staff training that meets all internal and regulatory standards and requirements.
- Develop an effective team through leadership, supervision and building; communicate company mission, common goals and objectives by promoting shared accountability.
- Develop and enforce specific policies and procedures surrounding food handling, sanitation, health, and safety; understand, apply and enforce Nexus home office and agency policies.
- Participate in the selection, training, ongoing development, and performance evaluation of food service staff.
- Participate in the annual budget development process and manage the current department budget.
- Ensure confidentiality regarding resident’ issues, background and treatment; comply with Nexus policies involving privacy and confidentiality rules for residents and their families.
- Conduct and attend staff meetings and training sessions as required by Nexus. Understand and support the Nexus philosophy and treatment modalities.
Required Education and Licensure:
- High School diploma or GED
- 3 years’ experience in the food service industry with experience in buying, dietetics, food preparation and health and safety standard
- Certificate in food handling required
- Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 1 year Food Service Industry supervisory experience
Work Schedule & Salary:
- Schedule:
- Full Time, 40 hours a week
- Weekdays & some weekend availability
- Hours range from 5a-6:30p
- Salary: Starting at $50,000-$55,000 annually
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and 50 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion tasks with hands and wrists.
- Must be able to bend, reach, twist and turn in a manner conducive to a large cafeteria/cooking environment
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
