POSITION TITLE: Food Services Secondary Field Supervisor Assistant (7:30-3:30)
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Food Services/Food Production Center
STATUS: Classified – Non-Exempt, Full Time
HOURS OF WORK/CALENDAR: Monday through Friday, 210-day Calendar
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing support to the Secondary Field Supervisor in the food service activities at secondary schools with specific responsibilities for assisting in directing activities and personnel at multiple sites to perform their functions in a safe and efficient manner. This position is expected to meet the mandated nutritional needs of students; ensure availability of quantities of items; provide written support to convey information; and comply with mandated health standards. This position is part of the Food Services Team and reports to the Secondary Field Supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist Secondary Field Supervisor in daily operations of the secondary schools including training of food services staff, coverage at assigned location, accountability reviews, oversight of breakfast and lunch service, compliance, etc.
· Oversee preparation, cooking, serving and transportation of food and beverage items to meet projected meal quantities and mandated nutritional and health standards and ensure appealing presentation.
· Monitor kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure safe and sanitary working environments.
· Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature for the purpose of presenting items that will be accepted by students and/or staff.
· Perform clerical related tasks (e.g. filing, data entry, etc.) for processing day to day paperwork in an efficient and orderly manner including temperature logs, inventory control, manager visit logs, absence reports, etc.
· Assist in ordering food, equipment and supplies as needed and/or assigned to provide an adequate inventory to maintain operations within established nutritional and budget guidelines.
· Respond to information requests from key stakeholders (e.g. building administrators, café manager, secondary food services staff, etc.) in cooperative, courteous and timely manner.
· Participate and assist with unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions.
· Prepare documents (e.g. cumulative meal counts, budget reports, reconciliation reports, cash summary, time sheets, etc.) to provide written support and/or convey information.
· Assist in directing assigned food service personnel (e.g. orient, train, evaluate, etc.) to maximize productivity of the work force, provide adequate coverage and ensure adherence to health, safety and nutritional standards.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required
· Targeted job related education that meets organization’s prerequisite requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the performance of light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The position requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, and significant finger dexterity. The position also involves occasional crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, and stooping. This position is performed under minimal temperature extremes and a generally hazard free environment.
