Supervises the activities of inmate kitchen workers. Coordinates the preparation and cooking through the supervision of inmate kitchen worker cooks and helpers. Responsible for the supervision of all other inmate kitchen workers in the carrying out of all their related duties under the guidance of the Director Food Services or Assistant Director Food Services. Completes tasks and projects as assigned such as conducting in-service training for Food Service personnel and inmate kitchen workers relating to the principles of proper food, sanitation, safety and hygiene. May fill in for the Assistant Director Food Services as required.

The Food Services Supervisor is responsible for the preparation of meals during each daily meal of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each meal must meet established standards of preparation, presentation and sanitation.

This Food Services Supervisor will ensure that all kitchen staff practices good sanitation skills. He/She will be responsible to coordinate and supervise that all sanitation practices and procedures are accomplished. This coordination may require communication with other departments within the Facility to support kitchen sanitation procedures.
The Food Services Supervisor will be required to supervise inmate kitchen worker resulting in preparation of over 6500 meals daily for both staff and inmates. Each individual in this position must be capable of motivating and directing inmates to the successful completion of each daily meal period without incident while maintaining institutional security.
Duties accomplished in accordance with the Facility Standing Operating Procedures (S.O.P.):
The Food Services Supervisor will be required to adapt to unusual events or occurrences while still enduring the timely and satisfactory meal preparation. Throughout the daily meal cycle, the Food Services Supervisor will be required to proceed in accordance with the Facility S.O.P. maintaining a high standard for him/herself, as well as assigned inmate kitchen staff.

The Food Services Supervisor will be responsible for the proper use, maintenance and repair of equipment. All equipment will be maintained to highest standards to prevent injury to staff and the adherence to safe and effective sanitation procedures.
