Job Description – Assistant Food & Beverage Manager needed for Corporate, 150 Room, Full-Service Holiday Inn located in Hollywood, Florida.
BASIC FUNCTION:
As a Assistant Manager of Food & Beverage, you would be responsible for the daily activities & services of all hotel food & beverage operations (kitchens, restaurants, banquets, lounges, room service, catering, etc.) in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service & financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standard:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in the Management of all Food & Beverage operations to include, but not limited to, guest service, food & beverage quality, inventory management, outlet reservations & occupancy, point of sale computer systems, budget & forecasting, marketing, report generation, department management & meeting participation & facilitation. Knowledge of ordering using established par stock levels.
- Ensure consistency in food quality & presentation & monitor cost & portion controls
- Monitor & develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision & professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling & evaluations & delivering recognition & reward
- Meet & greet guests & respond to guest inquiries, requests & issues in a timely, friendly & efficient manner & resolve guest concerns
- Monitor & assess service & satisfaction trends, evaluate & address issues & make improvements accordingly
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation & alcohol awareness standards
- Recruiting, interviewing & training team members
- Assist in Managing the food & beverage departments of the hotel to include food prep, food service, & lounge service.
- Maintain establish operational standards & maximize profits of the hotel. Follow all (IHG) brand standards.
- You will assist management with the banquet/catering sales & service functions, as well as the other outlets such as breakfast & evening reception as well as main dining & lounge/bar of the hotel.
OTHER DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain the services & reputation of the Hotel & act as a management representative to group & individual clients of banquets or outlets.
- Completion of Customer Follow-up calls on a timely basis.
- Timely analysis of Food & Beverage Prices in relation to competition.
- To coordinate with all large group meeting/banquet planners their specific group requirements with the services & facilities offered.
- Attendance & participation at weekly F&B meeting & Department Head meeting.
- Menu planning, Daily Specials & pricing.
- Development & maintenance of employee files.
- Be available to Hotel Staff at all times in case of emergency.
- Participation in Manager on Duty shifts as required.
- Assure bar inventory for functions, including staffing, opening & closing inventories, accurate bar summaries & cash deposits are prepared.
- Assure the completion of weekly schedule & shift duties while maintaining an adequate labor cost at or below the budgeted amount per cover.
- Completion of monthly inventories while maintaining budgeted F&B costs.
- Liaise on an on-going basis with the Sales Department to ensure all client needs & requirements will be met.
- Quality of Food & Beverage services, Room Service & department phone handling.
- Discipline of personnel when required.
- Participation towards overall Hotel Maintenance & cleanliness.
- Overall maintenance of the operation at a level in keeping with the standards prescribed.
- Ability to increase revenue through Sales & Promotions.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 3 year-experience in Hotel Food & Beverage Supervisory experience with a comfortable knowledge of all F&B departmental functions.
- A self-starter with proven supervisory experience in the Hotel Industry.
- Understands the importance of guest service and guest satisfaction surveys.
- POS computer skills, basic cooking, service, bartending skills to assist when necessary.
- Flexibility to work a variety of schedules & hours as business dictates.
- Energetic, with excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work closely with all department heads to understand their expectations of your role as supervisor of their departments during their time off.
- Ability to multi task, problem solve, work under pressure & have a positive attitude.
- Ability to perform all aspects of the Hotel Manager that may arise
- Needs to be a "Hands On" assistant manager
- Possess sound judgment & decision-making skills
- Ability to cooperate, work & communicate with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates &/or outside contacts.
- Adhere to & enforce safety & conduct rules & company policies.
- Reliability to complete assigned tasks & follow-up

- Ability to use hands in using office equipment, including the computer system
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Possess knowledge of hospitality, business & basic accounting principles & practices. Effective listening, verbal, written, negotiation & closing skills. Ability to assess customer needs, understand market dynamics & prepare presentations/proposals uniquely for individual customers. Ability to meet/exceed expectations for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals & closes.
- Strong professionalism, selling skills & work habits. Ability to remain positive, resourceful & improvise while working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure. Organizational skills that result in accurate, timely & thorough work. Ability to compile facts & figures, analyze information & arrive at logical conclusions & sound business decisions.
- Knowledge of & ability to operate a computer, calculator, phone & other office equipment.
