Medical Training College is seeking a full-time Practical Nursing Program Coordinator to join our dynamic team and lead our LPN program.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Must hold a current, valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana.
- Minimum of four years of experience in medical-surgical nursing or nursing education
- At least one of those four years must have been as a medical-surgical hospital staff nurse providing direct patient care (give details on resume).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (Preferred)
- Must have practiced as a nurse for a minimum of six full-time months during the three years immediately preceding appointment to this position.
All of these requirements MUST be included on the resume. This role is full-time and on-site at our Baton Rouge campus.
As the Practical Nursing Program Coordinator, you play a vital role in fulfilling our mission of educating students for careers that exist today. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, forward-thinking, and highly motivated. They must strive to be above reproach and maintain the highest standards of ethics. This role reports directly to the Campus Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and routine evaluation of program philosophy, objectives, and curriculum.

Maintain regular communication between nursing department faculty and school administration while routinely collaborating with the Campus Director to make departmental decisions.

Provide coordination of LPN clinical experience and onsite training.
- Regularly meet with the Practical Nursing faculty to evaluate curriculum and assess adequate student program progression.
- Assure that the program remains in compliance with the standards of all regulatory bodies while maintaining key responsibility for reports to the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners
- Recruit, recommend, and orient faculty while routinely providing them with training and evaluation.
- Build rapport with students while ensuring open lines of communication.
- When the occasion arises, conference and take appropriate disciplinary actions to address pertinent issues while constructing and implementing plans of action to address said issues.
- Represent the Medical Training College Practical Nursing Program at professional meetings and public functions when appropriate
- Attend all college faculty meetings and staff development sessions
- Assist the colleges management team to support needs and coordinate services implemented to support student success
- Perform other duties as assigned by the college administration.
