Fleet Administrator assists in administrating and coordinating motor vehicle fleet operations. Understands OSHA, DOT, fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. Being a Fleet Administrator prepares and maintains accurate records of vehicles, insurance, and required regulatory filings and reporting. Coordinates repairs and preventative maintenance scheduling that support fleet vehicle availability requirements. Additionally, Fleet Administrator may assist with safety training and communication programs. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fleet Administrator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Supervisors, under general supervision, plan, schedule, coordinate and evaluate the work of subordinate staff; maintain accurate and adequate written reports, work instructions, billing documents and maintenance and repair records; and serve as primary contact person between shop and equipment user departments regarding vehicle maintenance, modifications and repair or welding, fabrication, and paint and body shop operations. Supervisors require knowledge of fleet maintenance or body shop repair operations including repair trades practices and procedures as well as supervisory practices. The ability to interpret and apply technical procedures relating to fleet maintenance or body shop operations is also required. General guidelines exist in the form of operations and procedures manuals, union contracts, state and federal regulations, municipal codes and departmental and Company guidelines, policies and procedures. Supervisors perform full supervisory duties for all fleet maintenance staff. Personal contact occurs with intra-departmental personnel, customers and vendors for the purpose of coordinating work activities and exchanging information.
