Fitness Instructor coordinates all fitness programs for a facility. Organizes and instructs exercise classes for all fitness levels. Being a Fitness Instructor ensures that all participants are properly trained on the use of the facility's exercise equipment. Responsible for making sure that the exercise area and equipment are safe and clean. Additionally, Fitness Instructor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Fitness Instructor typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Looking for instructors to lead different formats of group fitness and can teach and/or sub for current classes and future classes. Must have the ability to teach low impact group fitness for adults such as Gentle Yoga, Chair Yoga, Chair Cardio and Strength Training, Cardio Resistance Classes, Zumba Gold classes and resistance classes.
Must be at least 18 years old. Applicants must possess excellent communications skills and strong leadership skills.
This position will be teaching group fitness classes for adults 18 and Senior 55 group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes participant wellness and engagement. Leads group fitness classes, as directed by Supervisor. Conducts fun and energized group fitness classes. Must be able to demonstrate exercises that are being taught in fitness class. Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the position; including but not limited to walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications or must be willing to obtain
Preferred Qualifications:
National certification (ACE, NETA, AFFA, NASM) in Group Fitness or Certified Personal Trainer
Licensed/Certified in area of expertise
