Merrick County Health and Fitness Center in Central City, Nebraska, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Center Director. As the Fitness Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Fitness Center. This is a leadership role that requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for promoting health and wellness. An active presence in the Fitness Center building is a requirement.
We are a successful non-profit Membership organization committed to strengthening our surrounding community through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. The Fitness Center building includes a swimming pool, hot tub, walking track, racquetball court, full-size gymnasium with basketball hoops and volleyball nets, weight rooms and various equipment, floor exercise and cycling areas, cardio area with treadmills, etc.
The successful candidate will be responsible for daily operations, financial stability, community and membership relations, staffing, development of programs and continued success of the Center. All activities are under the policies, directives and guidelines established by the Board of Directors.
The position also includes technical skills and knowledge to maintain the facility with the versatility to prioritize and organize and support all areas of the Fitness Center.
Because of the scope and diversity of this position, we want it to be filled by a person of mature and good judgment. Someone with the necessary human relation skills to establish and maintain good working relations with staff, volunteers, participants in programs, members, and the community. Successful candidates must be able to delegate responsibilities to accomplish the broad duties and varied programs under his/her coordination.
I. Job Segment: Board Development
Work with and understand the functions of a non-profit Board of Directors. Provide support and leadership to the Board of Directors as its Administrative Operative. Implement Board policies, plans, and directives, and report to the Board on matters affecting the welfare of the Fitness Center (FC). Act as a resource to the Board on policy development, planning and financial development and help Board members understand and appreciate their role and responsibilities.
II. Job Segment: Budgeting and Operational Development
Develop an annual budget for the FC and efficiently manage the records and reports. Provide leadership in securing needed resources for current operations, capital improvement, community development and long-range financial stability. Oversee long range development of the FC’s resources. Manage expenses and purchase new equipment in all areas of the FC. Promote and lead annual campaigns, fundraisers including, but not limited to, the Annual Golf Marathon, Go Big Give, etc.
III. Job Segment: Perform Basic Financial Operations
Oversee and assist the bookkeeper as needed with Balancing daily moneybags, daily bank deposits, maintain petty cash, change bags, lockers, bank draft, campaigns, and sponsors. Review invoices and statements and maintain accurate records for retention.
IV. Job Segment: Marketing
Responsibilities: Make available up-to-date knowledge of programs and happenings of the FC to the Interactive GI T.V. Bulletin Board and PSA’s and update bulletin boards as requested.
V. Job Segment: Fitness, Aquatic and Maintenance
Operate and maintain the FC facility, including the swimming pool, gymnasium, weight room areas and fitness areas, etc. Purchasing supplies necessary to operate in a clean and sanitary environment.
VI. Job Segments: Recruitment of Staff including front desk, volunteers, programming, and assistant. Providing staff with ongoing assistance and training
Responsibilities: Train and supervise Assistants, front desk staff, programming, and volunteer staff. Assist front desk staff for efficient operation of desk.
VII. Job Segment: Other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Board of Directors - Attend Staff and Board Meetings - Assist with other Fitness Center areas if needed - pool area, special events, etc.
