Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Additionally, Fire Inspector Supervisor relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.     • Position Overview: 
      • Program: Camp Fire Alaska’s Rural Program provides supplies and fun activities that emphasize the importance of healthy life choices, reducing high risk behaviors and encouraging community engagement to Rural Alaska Communities. 
      • Position: We are looking for an individual who can support communications within the rural communities and assist staff with delivering summer program activities and community events.
      • Shift Hours: Flexible shifts between the hours of 10:00am -10:00pm, Monday – Friday, up to but not exceeding 15 hours/week.
      • Duration of Job: 3 week session in a Rural Community
        • Session 1 Communities: June 3rd - June 21st
        • Session 2 Communities: June 24th - July 12th
        • Session 3 Communities: July 15th - August 2nd
      • Location: Rural Alaska Communities
      • Position Status: Part- Time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt
      • Pay: $14.84/hour
       

    Position Summary: As a member of Camp Fire Alaska's Rural Program, you will support Camp Fire's promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are. Community Support Specialists will support field based staff with logistics, such as organization and facilitation of supplies in program location(s), delivery of the food program, and community events. You'll have a vital role in building relationships among campers, families, elders and community members, while collaborating with the Rural Program leadership to identify staff and program needs, develop successful programing, and take part in evaluations to collect data about the program. 


    Position Overview of Day to Day Work: In this position you will be working closely with the Rural Travel Staff. At the start of the season, you will greet the staff arriving in the community and provide an introduction to the community locations, connect them with primary Tribal Council contacts and give a tour of the spaces Camp Fire will be occupying during the session. You will then communicate your availability to the Travel Staff and develop a plan for your schedule, discussing the supports you can offer, and connecting staff with other community members who could contribute to program. Day to day, you will provide support to staff in running daily programming, this could be assisting with the locating and moving of supplies, planning and preparing activities for youth, and engaging with staff in the planning and facilitation of community events. On a weekly basis, you will participate in meetings with Travel Staff and Rural Leadership to provide updates and discuss program needs. After the final day of programming for the session, you will work with Travel Staff to complete required paperwork, participate in a reflection, sharing feedback on the session, help the Tribal Council relocate any leftover supplies and ensure Travel Staff depart to their next destination. 


    To be successful in this position you must currently have a strong, positive engagement within your community. You must also be in the community the day of Travel Staff arrival, and maintain clear communication with Travel Staff and Leadership through the entirety of the session. 


    Position Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
    •  Reliable transportation for means to move program supplies. 


    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift 60 pounds.
    • Work environment may involve exposure to disagreeable elements.
    • The work environment is often fast-paced requiring the mental clarity and stamina to interact with a variety of individuals, such as youth, co-workers, and parents, in various situations with logic and reason while being mindful of the safety well-being of all parties.
    • Work requires continual movement and may include sitting, standing, walking, crawling, carrying, hauling, lifting, hiking (occasionally through hilly/rocky, uneven/unpaved terrain).
