Fire Inspector jobs in New London, CT

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     The CMM Inspector position requires a strong foundation in blueprint reading, dimensional inspection, and manufacturing processes.     Description

    To perform other such duties as generally correspond to the nature of the position and its level of responsibility.

    • Execute inspection plans for first piece, in-process, and final inspection
    • Use manual and automated metrology equipment to measure products, tools, and fixtures
    • Trouble shoot measurement techniques and make recommendations for improvements to Engineering and Management
    • Generate nonconformance reports based on inputs from shop floor personnel, Engineering, and Management using ERP system
    • Setup and run CMM programs (PC-DMIS and Modus Software)
    • Attention to detail to Customer Requirement interpretation experience is a MUST
    • Execute a ‘Zero Defects’ & ‘Right First time’ culture.
    • Propose Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvements to management.
    • Provide Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) support.
    • Ensure parts are handled and protected in a suitable manner to prevent damage during operations and movement.
    • Comply with any other guidelines as defined in the Employee Handbook.
    • Comply with company housekeeping standards.
    • Adhere to company EH&S Policies.

    Requirements

    Education:

    • High School Diploma
    • AS degree preferred
    • Experience
    • Understanding of standards of Quality Management Systems such as AS9100, ISO-9001, or other industry-specific standard or regulation.
    • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in quality; an Aerospace manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience using manual gauges and techniques.
    • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience with G, D, and T.
    • Have a minimum of 1 years of experience running automated or manual CMMs
    • Must have thorough understanding of problem solving methods, i.e., 8D, root cause analysis, etc., and the associated statistical tools used to analyze problems. Demonstrate ability to problem solve on a daily basis.
    • Aerospace and applicable regulatory authority knowledge/experience desired.
    • IT Knowledge/ Requirements
    • Computer literate in Excel, Word, Access, Project and PowerPoint.
    • Knowledge of ERP & Quality Data Management Software (ie. Infor-Syteline & QDA Datamyte software) is PREFERRED.

    Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

    Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
