Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers to ensure the safety and protection of our clients' properties and occupants.

    Responsibilities:

    • Install fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers according to building codes and manufacturer specifications.
    • Perform routine maintenance on fire alarm systems and extinguishers, including testing alarms, checking batteries, cleaning equipment, and replacing faulty components.
    • Conduct regular inspections of fire alarm systems and extinguishers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
    • Troubleshoot issues with fire alarm systems and extinguishers, diagnose problems, and implement necessary repairs.
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and other relevant information.
    • Provide training to building occupants on the proper use of fire extinguishers and emergency procedures.
    • Stay up-to-date with fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Interact with clients and building owners to address concerns, answer questions, and provide recommendations for improving fire safety measures.
    • Respond to emergency situations involving fire alarms or extinguishers and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in fire safety systems is preferred.
    • Proven experience as a fire alarm technician or inspector.
    • Knowledge of fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, and related equipment.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
    • Effective communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
