Fire Inspector jobs in Montgomery, AL

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     Job Description

    AECOM is currently looking for a skilled Inspector to support projects located within the Montgomery AL area.

    • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

    • Responsible for setting own project deadlines.

    • Provides on the job training to new employees.

    • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.

    • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.

    • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.

    • Tracks quality assurance progress.

    • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Highschool Diploma plus four years of related experience and or education

    • Due to the nature of the projects a US citizenship is required

    • Valid US Drivers License

    Preferred requirements:

    • Experience monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties

    • Field inspections, inspection records experience

    • Skilled with properly executing on contract documents, drawings and specifications

    Non-Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Montgomery AL locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $26 - $46/hr
