Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job. Fire & Life Safety Technician
Duties:
- Perform top quality fire equiptment installations, repairs, and maintenances
- Conduct inspections of commerical facilites to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Inspect and test fire equiptment for proper functioning
- Provide technical support and assistance to customers regarding sales and installation
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues with fire safety
equiptment
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and installations, etc... - Travel Required (Per Diem applies to travel dates)
Skills:
- Entry level fire & life safety knowledge
- Mechanical and/or maintenance background preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential safety hazards
- Excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independantly, as well as ability to work well
in a team environment
- Effective communication skills to provide technical support to customers
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record required. Also, must be able to pass a drug, alcohol, and background test.
