Fire Inspector jobs in Madison, WI

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     Summit Fire Protection, a member of Summit Companies is a premier firm in the Fire Protection and Fire Life Safety industry. We are seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to join our team in our Madison, Wisconsin office, with a focus on security, fire detection & alarm.

    The successful candidate will be dependable and capable of inspecting, servicing, and maintaining various types of fire detection, fire alarm, CCTV, nurse call, intercom/paging, A/V, Voice/Data, Intrusion, and other similar low voltage systems. Related experience is required.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform installations, inspections, and service on a variety of types of fire detection, fire alarm, CCTV, nurse call, intercom/paging, A/V, Voice/Data, Intrusion, and other similar low voltage systems.
    • Seek out additional sales and service opportunities within existing customer locations, and advise the customer of compliance needs
    • Develop long term relationships with customers and maintain customer retention

    Requirements:

    • A current driver's license
    • Low voltage experience
    • Mechanical ability and basic hand tool knowledge
    • Ability to lift 75 lbs. , safely use of ladders, work overhead and work in tight spaces
    • Work efficiently with minimal supervision
    • Organizational skills are essential for success
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • The ability to learn quickly is a must
    • High school degree or equivalent
