Fire Inspector jobs in Hackensack, NJ

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     Summary :

    The inspector is responsible for performing standardized quality control checks on company products to ensure they meet the required legal and company standards for safety and quality.

    Other requirements may include maintaining calibrated test equipment and preparing test data.

    Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform dimensional inspection as per applicable inspection planConduct First Article Inspection (FAI) on prototypes and first time runsComplete inspection reports with results as displayed on the equipmentRecord non-conforming material within the proper logs and alerts supervisor as requiredEnsure that products are inspected within timely mannerPerform necessary transactions in ERP system to maintain accurate inventoryEnsure equipment is within calibration and functioning safely and properlyParticipate in continuos improvement activities and trainingsMaintain a clean and orderly workspace within the work environmentOther duties as assigned and within scope of position

    Education and / or ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED2 years of relevant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environmentPrevious experience working within an ISO9001 certified facility (preferred)

    QualificationsProficient in the use of basic measuring equipment (caliper, micrometer, air gauge, etc..)Basic understanding on automated inspection equipment (CMM, vision system)Ability to read and understand engineering drawingsBasic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) - preferredAbility to assess visual drawing requirementsAbility to work alone with minimal supervisionAbility to collect data and interpret resultsMust demonstrate a good attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingBasic math, computer, and keyboard skills to work within the ERP system
