Fire Inspector jobs in Fairbanks, AK

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.   • Looking for a candidate to perform non-destructive testing on drill pipe, BHA, casing, tubing, and other oilfield equipment as directed by the operations manager or facility foreman. Level II certifications in MFLT, MPI, and PT will be the minimum requirements for this position.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Performs job duties in accordance with specified industry standards, Customer instructions, and/or Tuboscope requirements.
    • Is required to be certified or qualified for the type of inspection being performed.
    • Is required to prepare draft field inspection reports.
    • May be required to perform multiple inspection positions as needed.
    • Operates a variety of hand tools, plant equipment, and inspection and testing equipment as needed.
    • Meets established company production goals.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
    • Have a commitment to quality and comply with NOV HSE policies.
    • Report directly to the Shop Foreman or designated company representative.

    MINIMUM COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

    • High School education or equivalent.
    • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
    • Have current ASNT Level II or higher certification in multiple inspection protocols or be capable of achieving certification.
    • Willingness to work 12 or more hours/day on a two or three-week rotation schedule on the North Slope, as required by the company.
    • Good visual acuity and color perception and can pass a Tuboscope near/color vision exam annually.
    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
    • Must be able to comply with the NOV US Drug and Alcohol Policy.
    • An ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
    • Must be able to read and write.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Participate in the Tuboscope behavior-based Safety Program.
