Fire Inspector jobs in California

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     JOB DESCRIPTION:
    Provide reliable, excellent quality customer support through on-site inspections and preventive maintenance services on electrical fire alarm systems and automatic fire sprinkler systems.
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    o Perform routine inspections, testing and preventive maintenance of electronic fire alarm systems, automatic fire sprinkler systems with minimal supervision
    o Front line customer service and care
    o Diagnose and evaluate systems that require servicing as well as troubleshoot issues that arise during inspections
    o Provide solutions and/or recommendations to bring systems back in operating working condition in the most beneficial way for the customer.
