Fire Fighter is responsible for rapid response to fires, accidents, and other emergencies to protect people, property, and the environment. Works with firefighting teams to control and extinguish fires and safely manage hazardous materials. Being a Fire Fighter performs search and rescue, responds to auto accidents, and provides emergency medical services. Uses and operates fire tools, equipment and apparatus as effectively and safely as possible. Additionally, Fire Fighter performs routine maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment and gear to ensure proper condition and preparedness for emergencies. Prepares post-incident reports as required. May participate in fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. May require an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fire Fighter works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     THE POSITION

    United Fire is looking for a full-time, professional, dedicated Fire Alarm Technician to join our amazing team. This position will handle the installation and regular maintenance of United Fire products and services. More specifically, this person will be responsible for, but not limited to:

    • Performing tests, repairs, inspections, and programming of fire detection and signaling systems on a scheduled basis.
    • Completing all services following manufacturer instructions, related codes & standards, and company policies and procedures.
    • Providing documentation of inspections for company and customer records, authorities with jurisdiction, and any other entity required.
    • Communicating discrepancies, necessary system repairs, and any other needed information to provide accurate customer quotes.

    THE CANDIDATE

    Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of previous experience as a Fire Alarm Technician and hold a valid Oregon LEA (Limited Energy Technician license, class A) and Washington Limited Energy Electrical license. This candidate will also have the following attributes, qualities, and beliefs:

    • Committed to delivering the highest level of customer service to both external and internal customers.
    • Believe in the value, and take action, in completing all elements of the project in the safest and most efficient way possible.
    • Exercise strong, active listening skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical situations and their solutions to United Fire customers, as well as team members.
    • Great attention to detail with accuracy in documentation recording.
    • Dedication to continued growth and development, customer service, and the United Fire mission.
    • NICET Level II certification is preferred but not required.
    • Able to carry and move tools and equipment up to 50-70 lbs.
    • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions – climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
