Fire Fighter is responsible for rapid response to fires, accidents, and other emergencies to protect people, property, and the environment. Works with firefighting teams to control and extinguish fires and safely manage hazardous materials. Being a Fire Fighter performs search and rescue, responds to auto accidents, and provides emergency medical services. Uses and operates fire tools, equipment and apparatus as effectively and safely as possible. Additionally, Fire Fighter performs routine maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment and gear to ensure proper condition and preparedness for emergencies. Prepares post-incident reports as required. May participate in fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. May require an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fire Fighter works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Reporting to the Fire Alarm Manager, this position is responsible for providing inspections, installations and service on a variety of fire alarm devices and fire suppression systems according to company standards and as required by National, State or Local codes.

    Responsibilities include
    • Service, install, perform maintenance, and troubleshoot on a variety of fire alarm systems in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
    • Read fire alarm data sheets, system manuals, blueprints as required.
    • Coordinate installations with fire departments and handle necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
    • Perform administrative duties including completing service acknowledgements, NFPA Record of completion documents and other supporting documentation.
    • Maintain a fully stocked company vehicle in order to provide the best customer service with as few return trips as necessary.
    Qualifications include
    • Massachusetts Class D Electrical License
    • Minimum 3-5 years related experience either in the fire protection industry or the commercial customer service business.
    • NICET or equivalent training from manufacturers or institutions.
    • Working knowledge of NFPA 72.
    • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.
    • Proficiency with using PCs including working knowledge of MS Excel / Word as well as iPhone/iPad apps.
    • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
    • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
    Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
