Fire Fighter is responsible for rapid response to fires, accidents, and other emergencies to protect people, property, and the environment. Works with firefighting teams to control and extinguish fires and safely manage hazardous materials. Being a Fire Fighter performs search and rescue, responds to auto accidents, and provides emergency medical services. Uses and operates fire tools, equipment and apparatus as effectively and safely as possible. Additionally, Fire Fighter performs routine maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment and gear to ensure proper condition and preparedness for emergencies. Prepares post-incident reports as required. May participate in fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. May require an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fire Fighter works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. As a Fire Suppression Shop Technician, you will be responsible for the fulfillment of serviced fire suppression cylinders for our field technicians and customers. This will include a variety of Fire Extinguishers, Dry Chemical system cylinders, Kitchen Hood system cylinders and more. You will achieve this through guided maintenance and testing procedures as outlined by NFPA10, US DOT and the cylinder manufacturers. You will assist in prefab piping of new installation jobs to make the installation in the field go faster and smoother. Hands-on training will be provided to teach you the aspects you may not be familiar with.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for a safe, clean, and organized shop. Must be a self-starting independent worker who works under the guidance of the shop/logistics manager. A background in fire suppression is not required but is highly preferred. If you are a hands-on, mechanical person who likes consistent work flow this job could be for you.
