Fire Fighter is responsible for rapid response to fires, accidents, and other emergencies to protect people, property, and the environment. Works with firefighting teams to control and extinguish fires and safely manage hazardous materials. Being a Fire Fighter performs search and rescue, responds to auto accidents, and provides emergency medical services. Uses and operates fire tools, equipment and apparatus as effectively and safely as possible. Additionally, Fire Fighter performs routine maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment and gear to ensure proper condition and preparedness for emergencies. Prepares post-incident reports as required. May participate in fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. May require an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fire Fighter works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. *This position is 20-25 hours per week, schedule to be determined after hire. The tentative
start date is early May to early October (about 5 months)
*Some knowledge in both grounds care and maintenance and facility repair
*Be familiar with various tools used for groundskeeping, such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, pressure washers, gardening tools, etc.
*Be familiar with various maintenance and facility repair tools, such as hand and power tools.
*Ability to utilize personal protective equipment
*Be able to communicate effectively and have good organizational skills.
*Contribute positively to a working environment that is respectful and responsive to both the needs of employees and management.
*Work independently with limited direction.
*Maintain accurate records and take responsibility for correcting errors.
