FIRE CAPTAIN jobs in New Haven, CT
FIRE CAPTAIN manages a team of firefighters. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Being a FIRE CAPTAIN directs training and conditioning activities. Administers the staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Additionally, FIRE CAPTAIN leads and coordinates responses to fire events, hazardous material incidents, auto accidents, and search and rescue operations. Prepares post-incident reports as required. Leads or coordinates fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The FIRE CAPTAIN manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a FIRE CAPTAIN typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. - Ensure strict compliance with Part 135 regulations.

- Execute flight duties on specified aircraft.
- Maintain up-to-date aircraft documents, checklists, publications, and databases.
- Manage accurate reporting and record-keeping practices.
- Supervise flight planning, aircraft performance, and resource allocation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3000 hours total flight time.
- At least 250 hours in type (CE-525B).
- ATP certification.
- Valid First Class Medical.
- CE-525B Type Rating preferred.
- Profound understanding of Part 135 regulations.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, client-centric environment.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Oxford, CT.
