FIRE CAPTAIN manages a team of firefighters. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Being a FIRE CAPTAIN directs training and conditioning activities. Administers the staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Additionally, FIRE CAPTAIN leads and coordinates responses to fire events, hazardous material incidents, auto accidents, and search and rescue operations. Prepares post-incident reports as required. Leads or coordinates fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The FIRE CAPTAIN manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a FIRE CAPTAIN typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Title:

    GardaWorld is currently hiring for an experienced Fire Operations Captain in Liberty, NC. GardaWorld's fire protection services leverage vital expertise for the development of commercial and industrial fire safety programs. In addition, our teams of experienced firefighters provide fire protection support for municipalities and industrial clients.
    Job Responsibilities:
    • Provides direct supervision of the on-site fire crew by providing leadership, training, and mentorship.
    • Serve as the incident commander in all emergencies.
    • Serve as the liaison between GardaWorld and the client and between the client and local government agencies, i.e., fire marshal, and law enforcement.
    • Conducts periodic performance evaluations of the fire crew.
    • Providing excellent customer service to our clients, staff, and visitors.
    • Provide rapid response to critical incidents calmly and efficiently.
    • Observe, survey, and provide written and verbal activity reports to the assigned site.
    • Enforce client procedures, regulations, and standards.
    • Perform firefighting duties, including advancing hose lines, fire apparatus pump operations, safely operating power tools, climbing ladders up to 100ft, and wearing firefighter protective gear, including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
    • Provide basic first aid, CPR, and AED operation as needed.
    • Assists in the inspection and maintenance of fire apparatus and equipment.
    • Assists with maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment.
    • Operates radio-telephone equipment and communicates information to Fire Chief.
    • Perform all duties while being exposed to the elements.
    • Performs other firefighting and related emergency tasks consistent with standards for the position.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Minimum 21 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements.
    • A High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
    • A minimum of 2 years of verifiable fire crew supervision experience.
    • A valid North Carolina class “C” driver’s license
    • FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training; ICS-300
    • Fire Officer I and II certification from North Carolina Office of State Fire Mashall (NC OSFM), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), Pro Board, or National Registry
    • Ability to pass an extensive employment prescreening, including a background check, drug screen, medical, physical exam (NFPA 1582), and driving history check.
    • Ability to provide documentation of all certification transcripts and/or education.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • A valid North Carolina class “B” driver’s license
    • North Carolina Office of EMS (NCOEMS) Medical Responder or E.M.T certification
    • FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training; ICS-700, ICS-800
    • Previous or current Fire Inspection experience or training
    • Previous or current Technical Rescue experience or training
    • Previous or current Fire Service Instructor experience
